We Love the Fall Season in Emerald Isle: Here's Why!

When you think about the soon-coming fall season, your first thought may not be of the beach. But we ask you: Why not? Did you know that there are plenty of reasons to visit the coast of North Carolina this time of year? There are.

Here are a few of the reasons we love the fall season here in Emerald Isle:

The Weather

The humidity drops, the temperatures are inviting, and the salty breeze is refreshing. It's the perfect time of year for long walks on the beach, fishing along the shoreline, visiting our local treasures, and exploring our maritime towns. Outdoor activities abound here, so you'll have plenty of opportunities to enjoy a leisurely bike ride, a stroll along a coastal trail, embark on a kayak adventure, or venture out on a sight-seeing cruise of the land and sea.

The ColorsT
he sparkling blue-green waters are not hazed by the humidity. The fiery sunrises and sunsets are breathtaking. The sky is a deep, unending cerulean blue. The coastal flora is verdant. You'll see why Emerald Isle and the Crystal Coast are fitting names for this area of the North Carolina coastline. It is a wonderful time to capture the essence of the coast, so bring your camera.

The Beaches
The pristine beaches offer plenty to do in the sand and sea. Venture out on a surfboard, fly a kite, drop a linefrom the pier, expand your seashell or seaglass collection, search for sharks' teeth, or bring your beach chair and your favorite book and cozy up to the shoreline.

The Crowds
There aren't any. Our beaches aren't crowded like other parts of the East Coast anyway, but the fall season brings a peace and tranquility not found during the summer months. It is very relaxingand if you're looking for a place to go to get away from it all, this is it.

The Events
Some of our favorite local events occur this time of year. The North Carolina Seafood Festival, Civil War reenactments at Fort Macon, flounder and trout fishing tournaments, surf fishing seminars, the Swansboro Mullet Festival, the Carolina Kite Fest, fall and holiday events at the NC Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores and Beaufort Historic Site, and so many more fun festivities for all ages and interests. You will not be lacking for things to do, if you so desire. Be sure to visit the Town of Emerald Isle event page and the Crystal Coastevents calendar to see what's happening locally during your stay.
