The North Carolina Seafood Festival, Toast to the Coast, North Carolina Shrimp Tour & More

It is a really big weekend here on the Crystal Coast of North Carolina. October brings the North Carolina North Carolina Seafood FestivalSeafood Festival during the first weekend of the month each year to downtown Morehead City. The event is the largest festival east of Raleigh and brings hundreds of thousands to the coast each year. The waterfront and surrounding streets are filled with your favorite North Carolina seafood, live music, arts and crafts, cooking competitions, sporting events, a boat expo, rides, fireworks and so much more. The fun begins on Friday at noon with free admission and continues through Sunday, October 6.

Free parking is offered at the NC State Port with free shuttle service to and from the festival on Saturday and Sunday. Due to the large number of people attending the event, it is best to leave your pets at home.

The NC Seafood Festival is the kick-off event for the Toast to the Coast Restaurant Week, a semi-annual event on the Crystal Coast that offers prix fixe menus by award-winning chefs at your favorite local restaurants. Toast to the Coast Restaurant Week runs from September 30 through October 13. Enjoy an exclusive three-course meal for $25 per person, excluding tax and tip. There are no ticketToast to the Coast Restaurant Weeks, just choose a participating restaurant, show up, and order off of the prix fixe menu. Special events occurring during Restaurant Week include the Toast to the Coast Night Out, Designer Night, and personalized culinary tours.

In conjunction with Restaurant Week, Hungry Town Bike Tours in Beaufort is offering a unique culinary bicycle tour that includes a tour guide, bicycle rental, stops at three local restaurants, food and drink, and a pound of shrimp-to-go wrapped in authentic fish net made locally in Beaufort. The North Carolina Shrimp Tour lasts approximately three hours beginning at 12:30p.m. each day from September 30 to October 13, and reservations are required. The cost is $65 per person and limited to eight people per tour.
