Sometimes you and the kids just need a break from the sun and sand. Or maybe you're looking for a quiet, indoor activity or two to do during your Emerald Isle beach vacation. Or perhaps the weather just isn't cooperating that day and you need a Plan B activity. Well, parents, this post is for you! We've rounded up some of the cutest coastal crafts that can easily be done in your Emerald Isle vacation rental that your kids will love. Not only that, but they'll also have a beach vacation keepsake to take home with them as a souvenir of their stay in Emerald Isle. Check out these adorable craft ideas that require very few supplies and are a perfect addition to your family beach vacation fun.
This egg carton sea turtle craft is both easy and fun to make—and seriously, an egg box does not get much cuter than this! Save that egg carton you buy when you go grocery shopping for your vacation rental kitchen and use it for this cute coastal craft. It's also a great follow-up to a lesson on NC sea turtle nesting and hatching season in Emerald Isle
. All you need is an empty egg carton, green cardboard, green pom poms and some googly eyes. Have fun!
You don't need much for this really cute craft for the kids. They can make a cute little puffer fish art project to take home with them from their Emerald Isle beach vacation. It’s not too difficult and their puffer fish can be any color that they want. This would be a great follow-up activity after learning or reading about ocean animals, or after a visit to the NC Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores
. All you will need is white/yellow paint, a fork, paper, and a paintbrush. Go!
Bottle caps and drink lids are the main material you need to get crafting in this project, so save them before you leave for vacation or keep them from the bottles and drinks you use while on vacation. These leftover bottle caps can quickly and easily be turned into this darling fish scene and you won’t believe how simple it is to create. Other than the bottle caps, you'll also need a couple of paper plates, wiggly eyes, markers, construction paper, straws, glue, glitter and whatever else you have on hand to create the underwater scene. Go with your creative flow!
How cute are these popsicle stick angel fish? Really cute! They're also so simple to make. First, you want to have popsicle sticks. So either bring them with you or you can purchase them at a nearby dollar store. You can buy the colored ones if they have them or the kids can paint them as part of the project. Don’t feel like getting out the paints? No problem. You can always have them color with crayons or markers too. After they dry, it's just a matter of laying them out in parallel lines and glueing them together. Finish with a wiggly eye and whatever else your kids want to add for decoration.
These paper plate tropical fish have bright and vibrant colors and are oh so beautiful! They are a great way to add a nice color pop to your vacation rental and to take home with you after your beach vacation. They're also a fun follow-up to your visit to the aquarium or after a day of fishing. You only need some small paper plates, bright paint, paintbrushes, wiggly eyes, glue, and a scissors to create these colorful coastal crafts. Create an entire school of fish if you dare. Bonus points for being able to name the type of fish your kids create.
Need a fun indoor project for a lazy afternoon? These adorable jellyfish are full of vibrant colors and very easy to make. Pipe cleaners, googly eyes and styrofoam balls are all that are needed to make these cute hanging sea creatures. These floating jellyfish will look amazing hanging around from just about anywhere. They're also the perfect keepsake for your children to take home with them from their Emerald Isle beach vacation. Go ahead and read a story about jellyfish or even a quick Google search to learn more about these fascinating sea creatures.
