This time of the year on North Carolina's Crystal Coast is better experienced than described. Words just don't do it justice. The colors are vibrant, the ocean air is refreshing, the sand is cool on your feet, and the sun warms your face. Life is a beach here no matter what time of year it is, but you really start to feel it more now with each and every passing day. There's something in the salty sea air that bids you to come closer and begs you to stay awhile. If you are thinking of planning a beach trip over the Easter holiday, there's a lot of family fun to be had locally. Here are some of the best ways to spend Easter in Emerald Isle.
On the beach
This is a bit redundant, but of course the beach is one of the best ways to spend your time in Emerald Isle. Springtime greens, ocean blues, coastal tans, beachy whites and bright yellows are only some of the nature's color palette that are yours for the viewing. Get away from it all for a week or two: bring a good read, a comfy chair, your sunglasses, your favorite flip flops and find your spot in the sand. The beach has a way of making everything better, so be sure your vacation is filled with abundant sand, sun and surf.
Every time I stand before a beautiful beach, its waves seem to whisper to me: If you choose the simple things and find joy in nature’s simple treasures, life and living need not be so hard. ~Psyche Roxas-Mendoza
At the Emerald Isle Easter Egg Hunt
Easter wouldn't be Easter without an egg hunt. It's no different at the beach! Just because you're on vacation doesn't mean you have to miss any of the holiday festivities. Hop on over to the Emerald Isle Easter Egg Hunt on Sunday, March 20 at noon for some sidewalk chalking, face painting, music making and egg hunting. The Easter Egg Hunt begins at 1p.m. right on the dot, or rather, right on the whistle. Once that whistle is blown, it's every bunny for himself. There are three age groups for children 12 and under and plenty of prize eggs for everyone. Don't forget to bring your basket.
The Emerald Isle Easter Egg Hunt is free, open to the public, and no registration is required. Get your photo taken with the Easter Bunny and have a picture-perfect memory to take home with you.
In Beautiful Beaufort-by-the-Sea
Beaufort is a really lovely day trip any time you're vacationing in Emerald Isle with its waterfront restaurants, unique coastal shops, and boat-lined boardwalk. The Beaufort Historic Site is always worth a visit any time you're there, but it's especially fun on Sunday, March 26 during the annual Easter Egg Hunt on the historic site's grounds. It's especially for kids ages 7 and under, and there's no cost to join in the egg hunt. It's a BYOB event (bring your own basket). Gates open at 11a.m. so be sure to find your spot. The hunt is on!
However and wherever you choose to spend your Easter holiday, we hope it is filled with fun, family, and memories in the making. We hope to see you in Emerald Isle soon! Happy Easter from us to you.
