It's that time of the year again here on the coast of North Carolina: sea turtle nesting and hatching season, which runs from May through October. The 4th Annual Bike the Banks happens this month with three rides to choose from! Ride 1: Emerald Isle Ride (10 mile Fun Ride along Multi-Use Path) $25 entry fee, Ride 2: Fort Macon Ride (50 miles) $40 entry fee, Ride 3: Cape Lookout (100 miles) $40 entry fee. The second Friday of each month offers Friday Free Flicks at the Emerald Isle Community Center. Movies are family-oriented and suitable for all ages. It makes for a perfect family night out. Take a nice coastal drive down Highway 70 East into the historic town of Beaufort and enjoy a music festival set right on the waterfront where yachts dock and boats sail along the waterway. For over 30 years, this free festival has taken place each May and the town is packed on Friday and Saturday with locals and tourists alike enjoying the beautiful weather and some pretty great music.
Entering its 11th year, the Crystal Coast Boat Show in Morehead City, is one of Eastern Carolina’s premier events, featuring marine products and services, fishing gear, boat brokers, sailing races, boating education and various activities, including an antique car show and corn-hole tournament. Come and experience it for yourself. Bring your family, bring your friends!
Kayak for the Warriors is an annual fundraising event for Hope for the Warriors to benefit our brave, combat injured and fallen service men and women and their families, sponsored by the Town of Pine Knoll Shores. Join in the 11th anniversary event at the annual kayak and paddle board race on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 10am, traversing a 3.2-mile route along the town’s beautiful canals and Bogue sound. Kayakers of all ages and skill levels are welcome. The 5K Run is scheduled for Saturday, May 26 (Memorial Day weekend) at 8a.m. and the K4TW reception happens on May 31, 2018. Memorial Day isn't just about the symbolic start of summer, the cookouts and family gatherings, and the rest and relaxation—it's a holiday of remembering. On Thursday evening May 31, 2018 at 6p.m., the annual Kayak for the Warriors (K4TW) Reception with its two auctions (Live and Silent) is held at the NC Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores. This event, which especially honors our combat wounded, is also intended to recognize all of our veterans. This is a delightfully entertaining evening for everyone. For an admission fee of $10, you get admittance to the aquarium and all its exhibits and are invited to enjoy some of the finest food our local restaurants provide. One serving of beer or wine is included, as is unlimited water or soda. Learn more by following the link in the heading.
