Music Festivals Rock the Crystal Coast
May means music, and lots of it, here on the Crystal Coast of North Carolina. We're putting a spotlight on the local musical festivals, so you can get busy making your plans to be here. There is nothing quite like listening to the sound of music, as you smell the salty sea air and take in the magnificence of coastal beauty around you. It's the perfect way to spend the day or evening out with your family and friends, and it promises to be a feast for all of your senses.
Ready to learn more? Here are three musical festivals that will rock your world, just as they do ours.
Atlantic Beach Music Festival
The 3rd Annual Atlantic Beach Music Festival is set for Saturday, May 21 on the boardwalk at the Circle in Atlantic Beach. Featured performers for the 2016 festival include the Holiday Band, Band of Oz, Fantastic Shakers, and Mighty Saints of Soul—all under the direction of Emcee John Moore. The fun begins at 11a.m. and continues until 6p.m.
Admission to the Atlantic Beach Music Festival is free! Please remember that pets and glass containers are prohibited. For your convenience, shuttle services are available during the event with pickup and drop-off locations at Crows Nest Shopping Center on the Atlantic Beach Causeway, Doubletree Hotel on West Fort Macon Road, Atlantic Station Shopping Center across from the Town Park on West Fort Macon Road, and Atlantic Boulevard at the Circle beach access near the band stage.
Atlantic Beach is only about a 15 minute drive from your Emerald Isle vacation rental and offers a beautiful coastal ride along Bogue Banks. It's close and convenient. You should go!
Beaufort Music Festival
A classic Crystal Coast event, the Beaufort Music Festival hits the streets on Friday, May 20 and Saturday, May 21 in beautiful downtown Beaufort-by-the-Sea. 2016 marks the festival's 28th year. All events surrounding the festival take place on the Beaufort Historic Site grounds. The festival takes place each May and is a local and visitor favorite. The town is jam-packed (pun intended) on Friday and Saturday with amazing bands performing for free, food trucks and a fun-filled kid area.
Everyone enjoys the beautiful weather and the great music that fills the the coastal air. As laid back as the festival weekend is, it actually takes a whole year to plan. The money raised from the events goes toward funding the annual festival, but also goes back into the community, specifically the community’s children.
Speaking of children, the Beaufort Music Festival is a family-friendly event. Kids of all ages are encouraged to come out and celebrate this wonderful weekend. Kids are also encouraged to bring their parents to the family fun area. You can thank the local businesses, volunteers and teachers for providing that and for offering up their time to help out.
The Beaufort Music Festival is free for everyone. Sorry, dogs are not allowed at this event and alcohol is not permitted. You can bring a low chair for your listening comfort but please do not put them directly in front of the performance stage.
Friday evening's performances include Kudubai, Rebekah Todd & the Odyssey, The Midatlantic, and the AJ Ghent Band. Saturday spotlights such a jam-packed (literally and figuratively) schedule, that we can't even list them all here. Visit the Beaufort Music Festival website and click on the Music Lineup tab for the complete list of times and performers. Hope to see you there!
Crystal Coast Music Festival
Get in on the ground floor on this one and say you were there when it all began. It's the debut of the 1st Annual Crystal Coast Music Festival slated for Saturday, June 4. The inaugural Crystal Coast Music Festival takes place on Atlantic Beach, in tandem with the Crystal Kai SUP Cup weekend.
You'll find big name performers at this event with Third Eye Blind headlining the festival along with Robert DeLong, Judah & The Lion and Amasa Hines!
