March Events That You Won't Want to Miss!

There are so many fun things to do this month here on the Crystal Coast. Be sure you don't miss out on a single one! And don't forget to subscribe to our blog to make sure you get all the updates!

Ports and Pilots March 4th:

If you have children 12 years and older, or you just want to find out more about our local history and business, you can check out this awesome behind-the-scenes tour of the NC State Port in Morehead City courtesy of the North Carolina Maritime Museum. For only $5, you can get transportation to and from the Maritime Museum and see a video on the important role of pilots in the harbor. You’ll get to see the big ships of our port up close and learn about their role here on the Crystal Coast. Perhaps, I’m just a bit of a history fanatic myself, but this sounds like an awesome use of five bucks to me!

Carteret Community Theater Presents "Into the Woods" March 6th:

Join the Carteret Community Theater for a great night of fun and entertainment as they act out their versions of some great fairy tales as seen on the musical "Into the Woods." First showing airs March 6th at 8pm at the Carteret Community Theater. Check out their website for ticket prices and show times.

Merry Time for Tots March 11th:

Now, for those with smaller children, this is the perfect little learning opportunity for them! Again put on by the North Carolina Maritime Museum, children ages 2-5 are welcome to come explore the world of boats with their guardians. Come by with the little ones for fun activities and crafts all about boats! This may be a good chance to satiate their desire to try and float everything they can get their hands on in the bathtub too, so bonus! Maybe this will solve the problem of finding important papers and favorite toys stuck in the drains!!

Free Friday Flick March 13th:

This month’s Free Friday Flick at the Emerald Isle Parks and Recreation Center is "Dolphin Tale 2.” Come bring your family to this fun, relaxing night of movies, popcorn, and fun.

Emerald Isle St. Patrick’s Day Festival March 14th:

St. Patrick’s Day would not be complete without a trip to beautiful Emerald Isle. We’re so excited to celebrate such a fun holiday, and that means: it’s time for a festival! And so, for the 24th year running, the Emerald Isle St. Patrick’s Day Festival will be held at Emerald Plantation!  From 9am-6pm, the Transportation Impact is proudly presenting this fun and exciting event! With free parking and admission, there’s all the more reason to enjoy all the arts and crafts, great local food vendors, Oak Grove Stables petting zoo, clowns, amusement rides, face painting, and so much more!! Three different stages will be featuring different shows, and a Little Ms. & Mr. Leprechaun Contest will take place for the little ones. This is such an amazing, iconic event here in Emerald Isle, so be sure that you make your way over with the whole family! This is definitely what I would consider the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow!

Horses, Hiking, and History March 16th:

This guided tour is a great way to get to know about the Outer Banks. Full of history, wildlife, and adventure, this is a great way to get outdoors and learn more about our beautiful area. Hike through the Outer Banks and keep an eye out for the wild horses! This is a great hike along the national seashore thanks to the North Carolina Maritime Museum. Find out more about fees and times at their website

Toast to the Coast Restaurant Week March 22-28:

If you want a taste of the Crystal Coast, then you'll want to make sure that you are in town this week as Carteret County celebrates it's local restaurants with their delicious menus and southern charm. 37th Annual Newport Pig Cookin' March 27th and 28th:

If you didn't get enough great southern cooking from Toast to the Coast week, be sure to check this out because besides the amazing seafood found everywhere on the Crystal Coast there's something else we do right every time: barbecue! Don't miss out on this awesome annual event in Newport as we celebrate the deliciousness that is southern pulled pork barbecue. Festivities include fair rides, concession stands, vendors, live music, souvenirs, and of course the $7, award winning barbecue plates. This is such a fun event for the whole family and a great taste of some great southern cookin'. Check out their website to find  out more information on times, contests, and more.

Emerald Isle Marathon, Half Marathon, and 5K March 28th:

This is a great, new annual event that is going on right here in Emerald Isle. Participate in the full Marathon, Half Marathon, or the 5K and proceeds will be split between the town’s bicycle path program and the American Heart Association. Such a fun way to show support for two great programs!

Emerald Isle Easter Egg Hunt March 29th:

For another great event at the Emerald Isle Parks and Recreation Center, head over for the annual Easter Egg Hunt! Prior to the hunt, there will be lots of fun activities with the Emerald Isle Easter Bunny including side walk chalking, face painting, music, and more! Three different age groups will  participate in the Easter egg hunt and then take a minute to pose with the Easter Bunny for pictures. Joy the Clown will also be there for face painting! The Easter Bunny will also be there to hand out special prizes! Don’t miss out on this fun, family event!
