The North Carolina Aquarium has a full schedule of special events, activities and programs for all ages and interests. From their Succulent Seafood Series to their Aquarium Encounters to their Behind the Scenes adventures, there's a lot to love this month and every month at the NC Aquarium. Stay warm and cozy indoors or get your blood moving outdoors by exploring the marsh, boardwalk and Hoffman Nature Trail. Take a peek at what's happening and then mark your calendars!

First Day Hike at Fort Macon

Get your heart pumping and start the new year off right with a hike in your favorite state park. Fort Macon is offering two ranger-led hikes this year, both starting from the Visitor Center at 2pm. One is a short nature hike on the Yarrow's Loop Trail and inlet beach covering about 3/4 of a mile. The second hike is along the 3.2 mile Elliot Coues Trail. Lace up your hiking boots and be there.

Performing in over 100 cities each year, Folk/Americana musician and entertainer, Dennis Warner has established a well-deserved reputation for captivating audiences with his smooth vocals, distinguished songs, enthusiastic personality and stellar playing on both six and twelve string guitars. For his song writing talents, Dennis was honored with an invitation to perform in concert at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC. Besides being a gifted musician Dennis Warner is also an outstanding entertainer, cleverly blending ballads, up tempo songs, audience participation and humor into a memorable event. International Film Series 2018International Film Series

January 18-19, 2018

The International Film Series returns this year with four new films from four new countries. Join other film lovers for a wonderful dinner catered by Floyd's 1921 and inspired by the featured movie's country. Take an after dinner stroll over to Joslyn Hall for popcorn and the movie. Film showings are at 5:20p.m. and 7:30p.m. Admission to the movie is free, but donations support the series. Dinner begins at 6p.m. Enjoy cuisine that reflects the culture of the evening's movie. Combo tickets are $30/person (dinner and one drink ticket). A cash bar is also available.

Beat the wintertime blues with a day of indoor games, shopping and family fun for free at Mac Daddy’s Family Entertainment Center’s 8th Annual Winter Festival. The Winter Festival was created to give the local community fun family activities during the cold winter months. Mac Daddy’s loves hosting unique, special activities and in the winter, the festival is a great free event for the whole family. Winter Festival fun includes face painting, music, a cakewalk and a variety of games and contests. Dozens of local businesses are on hand showcasing arts and crafts, jewelry, clothes, beauty products, home decor and much more. Mac Daddy’s is also giving away awesome prizes and hosting live, family-centered performances throughout the day. Warm wintry fun is definitely served up here. Save the date!


American Music Festival Series
