Carolina Chocolate Festival

February 2-3, 2019

Crystal Coast Civic Center, Morehead City

Are you a chocolate lover? Then this is the weekend you need to be on the Crystal Coast! The annual Carolina Chocolate Festival is deliciously decadent while also supporting local charities in the area. Get your tickets and bring your friends! Hours are Saturday 9am-6pm and Sunday 10am-3pm with additional festival-related events before and after the big event. 

Emerald Isle Friday Free Flick

Come on out to the gymnasium at Emerald Isle Parks and Recreation on the second Friday of each month for the Friday Free Flick movie showing. This month's feature film is Show Dogs (PG). Movies are free, family-friendly plus you can buy popcorn and a drink for only $1. Don't forget to bring your blanket or chair, then sit back and enjoy the show.

NC Aquarium Autism Friendly Day

NC Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores

This is a day of discovery designed for children and adults living with autism and their families. Explore the Aquarium using your senses. Activities include nature walks (weather permitting), live animal programs, a sensory exploration room, "quiet" dive program, calm space for families, guest guide passports, and local autism support organizations. Free with Aquarium admission. Fun Fact: The 36-foot tall smoky mountain waterfall will be turned off during this special day.

Marshallberg Farm, Smyrna

Here's a little known fact for you: Marshallberg Farm Down East is the largest producer of Russian sturgeon for caviar and meat in the entire country! Who knew? See the sturgeon, walk the farm, ask questions, and taste caviar and smoked sturgeon. Products are available for purchase. Don't forget to bring a cooler. Spaces are limited and tickets must be purchased online before the tour. (Kids accompanying parents are free.) Check out their special Valentine's Day Tour paired with a champagne tasting by the experts. What's better than champagne and caviar?

Dancing with Our Stars

Crystal Coast Civic Center, Morehead City

For the 5th year, Carteret Smart Start is proud to host Dancing With Our Stars. This evening of glam and glitter includes fabulous food, a silent auction, games, local celebrities and sparkling entertainment. Doors open at 5pm for sipping, nibbling and conversation. The dance competition begins at 7pm with dancing couples vying for the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy. If you’re a dancer at heart, but not quite ready for competition, there’ll be plenty of time to show off your own dancing skills during the evening. Hurry, tickets go fast so get yours today. 


Masquerade Dinner Theatre

The Infusion Cafe, Morehead City

On Valentine's Day weekend The Infusion Cafe proudly presents the Dinner Theatre, MASQUERADE! Enjoy an evening of romance, music and fine dining. Join the cast of performers-—characters and vocalists extraordinaire—featuring live musical performances from some of today's best loved musicals. The show surrounds you and your table is on the stage. Masks are stunning works of Venetian art made to hide one's identity and create an aura of mystery and romance, and are the theme of the evening. So find your mask and dress for your part in this evening of romance, music and merriment. The doors open at 6:30pm. The show begins at 7pm. Seating is limited and tickets are required.

16th Annual Empty Bowls Luncheon

February 20, 2019

Crystal Coast Civic Center, Morehead City

Empty Bowls is not just an an annual fundraiser, it’s one of the community’s favorite events held each February at the Crystal Coast Civic Center. Proceeds benefit both Hope Mission and Martha’s Mission. A $20 donation gives you the choice of a handmade bowl by an area potter and art students in addition to a belly-warming bowl of soup donated by local restaurants. The empty bowl is taken home as a reminder of those worldwide whose bowls are empty. Tickets must be purchased in advance of the event and tend to sell out quickly. Join their mailing list or like and follow the Hope Mission of Carteret County Facebook page for more information on the next Empty Bowls event. 


International Film Series

February 21-22, 2019

Joslyn Hall, Carteret Community College

This is an annual event that occurs once a month during January, February and March which includes dinner with each movie. The menu for each dinner reflects the country in which the movie is from. Doors open at 5:30pm; dinner is from 6pm to 7pm; movie starts at 7:30pm. February 21 features The Concert (Russian) with a bonus showing on February 22 at 1:30pm. Join in for a wonderful catered dinner inspired by the featured movie's country. Then partake of an after-dinner stroll over to Joslyn Hall for popcorn and the movie. This makes for a really great date night!

Escoffier Chef Dinner Series

February 26, 2019

Carteret Community College, Morehead City

Indulge in a four-course meal prepared by culinary students and top local chefs. This is an annual event that occurs once a month during January, February, March and April. All four dinners feature the best French cuisine (four course-meal). Doors open at 5:30pm with Hors d’Oeuvres until 6:30pm. This unique event supports the CCC Culinary Program, which is vibrantly training tomorrow's chefs. Carteret Community College proudly sends 3-4 students annually to France for a month internship. During this month-long trip the students train under the best French Escoffier Chefs in the world.
