Emerald Isle Saint Patrick's Festival, Swansboro Oyster Roast & More

St. Patrick's weekend is a busy one here on the Crystal Coast of North Carolina. Be sure to check out some of our local highlights and we hope you make time to come out and enjoy them.

22nd Annual Emerald Isle St. Patrick's Day Festival

Irish eyes are smiling this weekend on the Crystal Coast as the 22nd annual Emerald Isle St. Patrick's Day Festival gets underway on Saturday, March 16 from 9a.m. to 5p.m. at the Emerald Plantation Shopping Center. A local favorite, the festival features over 75 arts and crafts vendors, festival food, a beer garden, a petting zoo, a climbing wall, amusement rides, clowns, face painters, and plenty of other family-friendly activities.

Bring your appetite and indulge in the festival's mouthwatering fare such as corned beef and cabbage, shrimp burgers, hamburgers, hot dogs, Mediterranean cuisine, barbecue, funnel cakes, fried peanuts, cotton candy, and the listEmerald Isle St. Patrick's Day Festival goes on. There's a little something for every craving and every appetite.

A highlight of the Emerald Isle St. Patrick's Festival is The Little Ms. & Mr. Leprechaun Contest taking place on the main stage at 11a.m. The contest welcomes boys and girls ages 2-3 and 4-5. Each of the contestants is judged on originality and creativity of their costume along with their stage presentation. Preregistration for the contest is required by 12 noon on Friday, March 15, so don't delay.

Admission and parking are free for the festival. Bring your family and friends, and be ready to make a day of it.

Swansboro Oyster Roast & Pig Out
The 34th annual Swansboro Oyster Roast hosted by the Swansboro Rotary Club on 1104 Main Street cooks up good food for a good cause. From 5-8p.m. on Saturday, March 16 get your fill of oysters, pork, fried fish, clam chowder, hot dogs, and more. Live music is presented by Machine Gun.

Tickets are $45 in advance and $50 at the door. The proceeds benefit scholarships and projects locally in Onslow and Carteret counties. More information on ticket purchase can be found here.
Shamrock Run
1st Annual Shamrock Run
This is the first year for the Shamrock Run in Beaufort, so show your support for this newly established event. The 5k and one-mile run take place on Saturday, March 16 on the Beaufort waterfront. Registration begins at 8a.m. at the First Citizens Bank on the corner of Turner and Front streets, and the Shamrock Run begins at 9a.m.

Entry fees are $15 for adults, $7 for children ages 6-13, and children age 5 and under are admitted free-of-charge. Proceeds from the run benefit the Carteret County Domestic Violence Shelter.
