Easy Ways to Bring Halloween to the Beach
Halloween at the beach can be extra fun and festive. How? We're glad you asked! We've found some super simple ways to give you the best of both worlds. We've consulted with our old buddy Pinterest for some of the easiest ideas to help you have a creative coastal Halloween. Feel free to Pin your favorites! Coastal Pumpkin Carving
Give your pumpkins some coastal flair by trading in the usual Jack-O-Lantern carving for some beach-inspired carving. Choose your favorite coastal elements and get to work. Lighthouses, palm trees, seashells, crabs, sand dollars and starfish are a few of the many ways to give your pumpkin that beachy look.
Take it up another notch by giving your pumpkins a sandy exterior. The DIY Network details the how-to's. All you need is some spray adhesive, sand, and preferably a faux-pumpkin from Michaels or any local craft store. It's a bit easier to manage than a real pumpkin (but you can do that too, just choose a smaller one!), plus your coastal creation will last for many Halloweens to come. Check out the DIY Sandy Beach Pumpkins here.
If pumpkin carving isn't your thing, no worries. There are no-carve pumpkin coastal decorations you can try. You can still bring that beach feel by choosing to paint your pumpkins with a coastal color palette that includes beachy blues, sandy tans, coastal whites and pastel greens. (Chalk paint is perfect for that white-washed look on your pumpkins, by the way.) Add beach images to your pumpkin with paint by using nautically-themed stencils or channel your inner artist and paint freestyle. Here's a step-by-step guide to carving your own Pineapple Jack-O-Lantern this Halloween. There are two different methods that can be used. The first is cutting the top off of the pineapple and emptying the fruit from there as shown in this Coastal Living Pineapple Jack-O-Lantern Carving video. The second pineapple carving method explained here is done by cutting a rectangle from the back and emptying the fruit from there, replacing the back portion, and then carving from the front. A tea light goes in at the end to light it up.
Whichever way you choose, you'll have a fun and festive addition to your coastal Halloween, not to mention an island-inspired treat to enjoy in the process. Pineapple makes everything better!
Pumpkin Party Cooler
If you're hosting a Halloween bash on the beach, it's pretty easy to bring a pumpkin-inspired theme to your food and drink displays. Not only can you carve out small pumpkins to serve up your fabulous fare (think centerpieces for dips) but you can also use a large-sized pumpkin to serve as your drink cooler.
The Pumpkin Party Cooler is a stunning way to keep your drinks on display and ready for use while keeping them cold and festively adorned. It's simple enough! Carve out a pumpkin, line it with plastic wrap, fill it with ice and put your drinks in. Your guests will love it!
Of course there are a million-and-one ways to tailor the Party Pumpkin to fit your liking. Check out all of the Party Pumpkin Cooler Pinspiration right here and find the one that's perfect for your Halloween celebration at the beach.
