Don't dread New Year's Resolutions with these easy to follow steps!

Happy Holidays! We hope that your Christmas was wonderful and that you have a great New Year! Now, as you well know (and probably dread), New Year's is the time to make resolutions. No! Don’t stop reading, there’s no reason to be discouraged! We all know that New Year’s resolutions are the dread of what should be a great time to celebrate the beginning of a New Year, new adventures, and new opportunities. With this in mind, we have come up with a simpler way to follow through with your New Year’s resolutions.

So, what is the biggest problem with resolutions? Well, for me it’s the fact that I’ve forgotten to eat healthy by the time February comes and Valentine’s candy makes its appearance. I’ve forgotten to exercise midway through the month when the holidays officially end and I’m back to work.

And I tend to have problems finishing what I st...

Forgetting my New Year’s resolution always seems like the hardest part as the daunting task of keeping a resolution all year makes me inadvertently push it to the back of my mind.

But never fear! We have some great suggestions and an action plan to help you keep your resolutions for the New Year.

1.Set a specific goal

Setting up specific goals will help you turn your ambiguous-hard-to-keep-up-with goals, more manageable and realistic. For example, instead of saying "I’m going to Emerald Isle this year for my vacation,” change it to "For my vacation in January, I am going to Emerald Isle.” Likewise, you can say that same line for the whole year, but simply change the month successively. That way you can have the goal to visit Emerald Isle all year—what better resolution is there??

2.Break it up

Which brings up the next point which is to break up your resolution into smaller pieces helps you to stay motivated. By breaking up your goals into months, weeks, or even days instead of thinking in terms of the whole year, helps you to stay focused and less overwhelmed.

3.Find support

In terms of our example of the perfect resolution, this step is the easiest. Your family will be thrilled to support you as you decide to make a trip to Emerald Isle your top New Year’s resolution. Finding people to support you in your resolutions will help you stick to them and stay motivated on your path to success.

4.Keep a recordResolutions Tracker from Sun-Surf Realty

This step is important because keeping a record helps keep you responsible. Having something written down in an easily accessible/viewable place will remind you of your goals and help you to stay on track. We've got your back on this one and we've created a check list for you. Each month you can write down your resolution and how you plan to carry it out that month. Then, you can keep track of it by checking off the box at the end of each month. Post this on your fridge or other place your family can see it, and make it a group effort.

These are just a few of our tips for keeping your resolutions this year. We hope that you will make a visit to Emerald Isle one of your top resolutions this year. Check out our website to find out more about our easy to plan vacation rentals. Happy NEW YEAR from Sun-Surf Realty.
