Crystal Coast Earth Day Celebration at Fort Macon This Weekend

Earth Day was officially celebrated on Monday April 22, but here on the Crystal Coast the celebration lives on. And as we all know, every day should be Earth Day for us by doing our best to protect and preserve our environment whenever possible by implementing the five R's: reduce, reuse, recycle, replenish and restore. With the plethora of natural beauty here on the coast of North Carolina, we take this to heart.
Crystal Coast Earth Day
Join in the Crystal Coast Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 27 from 10a.m. to 2p.m. at Fort Macon State Park in Atlantic Beach. Cape Lookout National Seashore joins more than 20 other environmental educators in this free family-friendly event. In addition to learning more about ways to help protect and preserve our local environment,  it's also a chance to get close to marine vertebrates like whelks and sea stars, meet rescued wildlife, make coastal crafts and more. Enjoy live music from the band Gumbo Lily who are set to perform from 11a.m. to 1p.m. that day. It's an all out celebration!

Earth Day paCrystal Coast Earth Day 2rtners include the North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores, Cape Lookout National Seashore, NC Coastal Federation, NC Coastal Reserve, Core Sound Waterfowl Museum and Heritage Center, NC Division of Marine Fisheries, Fort Macon State Park, and the NC Maritime Museum in Beaufort. That's a lot of coastal resources, knowledge and experience all in one place. Don't miss out on all of the fun and learning happening here.

When you spend your time visiting and vacationing in Emerald Isle and along the Crystal Coast, we appreciate your efforts in maintaining the natural, pristine beauty of our beaches and coastline. Picking up trash, being conscientious and considerate of the surrounding ecosystem, and respecting the environment are all ways to help maintain this beautiful part of the earth that is loved and treasured by both visitors and residents alike. We really appreciate your support in this endeavor.

We hope to see you at the Crystal Coast Earth Day Celebration this weekend. Don't forget that the Beaufort Food & Wine Weekend begins this week and the Lookout Rotary Spring Road Race in MPelican in the Sound by Hal Brysonorehead City is occurring on Saturday. As always, there's so much to see and do during your time on the Crystal Coast.

We look forward to seeing you in and around our towns and at our local events. Cheers to cherishing natural beauty and the surroundings that we love and enjoy each and every day here on the beautiful Crystal Coast of North Carolina!
