Hello, April! What a lovely month to be vacationing on the coast of North Carolina. Have you booked your Emerald Isle, NC rental yet? If you have some time off this month over the Easter holiday—or any time you can escape to the coast of somewhere beautiful (we mean here, of course!)—then you should take full advantage. Spring has sprung and the beach is alive with coastal beauty, sparkling Atlantic Ocean waters, and sunny shorelines as far as the eye can see.

Emerald Isle Community Center


April's Friday Free Flick is appropriate for the season. Bring the family to the community center and enjoy the movie Peter Rabbit (rated PG). It's a great way to kick off your Easter in Emerald Isle. Then plan to come to the Easter Eggstreme the next day!


April 13, 2019

Emerald Isle Community Center

10a.m. to 12 noon

Easter themed activities and fun festivities take place on Saturday beginning at 10am. Join the EI Bunny for family-friendly activities including a bounce house, Easter basket raffle, cake walk, egg and spoon races, and more! Children should bring an Easter basket to collect their prize. Get a photo with the EI Bunny. (Please note: no official egg hunt takes place, but everyone leaves with Easter treats.) Emerald Isle Community Center

2p.m. to 7p.m.

The Carteret County Chapter of the American Red Cross is holding a blood drive at the Emerald Isle Parks and Recreation Community Center on 203 Leisure Lane from 2p.m. to 7p.m. We hope you can find time in your day to please give! A little bit of your time can make a big difference in someone's life. Thank you in advance for planning to come by and donate. We love our community support and attitude of service, so we know it will a busy day.

Newport Town Park

It's that time of year again! The country's largest all volunteer, non-profit, whole hog BBQ Pig Cookin’ invites you to join in for two days of food, fun and springtime celebrations. The event is in its 41st year in 2019 and offers barbecue for a good cause, giving over a million dollars to local charities to date. April 6-7, 2019

Fort Macon State Park

This is a special event live off the point at Fort Macon National Park, featuring Angler Andy Couch demonstrating his Flounder Fanatic Rigs, Ed Mullins with his sling shot surf caster, Gaff Fishing Products with quick drop surf rod holders, and Good as Fresh Fishing bait— along with other competing anglers. Midday cookout happens at the park. Details here.

Beaufort Historic Site

9a.m. to 4p.m.

The Beaufort Historic Site kicks off the spring season with the 30th annual Publick Day event. The Site transforms into an open-air marketplace, welcoming visitors to explore the vast array of goods and items for sale from various vendors. “Publick Times” dates back to the colonial period and is fashioned after Williamsburg of the 1700’s when the General Court was in session. Publick Day gave visitors an opportunity to come to town to see and be seen, conduct court business, shop, gossip, dine and dance. Guests can expect to find a variety of vendors selling antiques, vintage finds, collectibles, arts and crafts, wood crafts, furniture, hand-made jewelry, baskets, pottery and more. Admission is free! Morehead City Waterfront

5p.m. to 8:30p.m

Tempt your palate with twenty two bites from locally owned restaurants as live blues music fills the waterfront. Use your ticket as your guide as you walk the Morehead City Waterfront, stopping at each waterfront restaurant or host business to taste a delicious “bite” from each locally-owned participating restaurant. Music fills the air as blues bands and solo performers entertain you all along the waterfront. At the end of the night, choose your favorite “Bite Of The Nite”. The winning restaurant receives the prestigious White Plate award. This sell-out event has become a Carteret County favorite among locals and visitors alike, so don’t miss out on the chance to “Bite Through The Night” on the MHC waterfront! NC Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores

9a.m. to 5p.m.

Join the Party for the Planet at the NC Aquarium. This year the theme is Spring Into Action. Enjoy displays and activities all about our connection to the natural world and learn about some of the conservation success stories and conservation projects happening right here. Learn how you can make an impact for good to help environments and animals around us—and how to have your own sustainable party. Enjoy special crafts and activities throughout the weekend. Party for the Planet activities are free with admission or Aquarium membership. Other Party for the Planet events include a Dune Grass Planting April 22 and June 8, plus a Beach Clean-Up May 28. Details here.


April 20, 2019

Atlantic Beach 

11a.m. to 2p.m.

Celebrate Easter at Atlantic Beach’s first Helicopter Egg Drop on Saturday! Egg hunts are divided by age with 0-6 year olds beginning at 11a.m. and 7-12 year olds beginning at 11:15a.m. Please respect the age limits and be courteous to your fellow egg hunters. BYOB: Bring your own basket. Free hot dogs and drinks are served from the hospitality tent with additional food and beverage items available for purchase. Free mini-golf for everyone, too. This event is a “mist or shine” event, meaning the helicopter egg drop still happens as long as there is a light rain only. (In the event of heavy rain, the event will be canceled.) Parking and restrooms are available at the Town Park. Details here.
