A Dog's Guide to Emerald Isle
Imagine your paws dug down deep into the soft sand. The cooling coastal breeze blowing through your fur. The warmth of the Carolina sun on your face. The smell of the salty sea air in your nostrils as you watch the waves crash along the shoreline. Resist the temptation to chase the seagulls and crabs, and just lay back and relish in the sun, sand and surf that surround you.
Life is definitely a beach here in Emerald Isle, North Carolina, whether you're of the human or canine persuasion. And since we've done a lot of Sun-Surf Realty blog posts by the people and for the people—this one is especially for you, dearest doggies. Tell your pups, tell your pack.
Tail Waggin' Adventures in Emerald IsleAs your family may have already told you, Emerald Isle is a pet-friendly beach destination and a popular choice by families for all it has to offer for both the two-legged and four-legged members.
The Emerald Isle beaches are gorgeous with pristine sands, sparkling crystal-clear waters, and room to run and roam as far as the eye can see. Get your nose wet in the waters of the Atlantic, play some fetch along the shoreline, catch a frisbee, take a walk on a Crystal Coast hiking trail, stroll the sand, and be sure to catch at least one Carolina sunrise and sunset while you're here.
Ask your owner to read up on the Town of Emerald Isle's pet ordinances and beach regulations just to be sure you know what you can and cannot do. It's pretty standard when it comes to the usual leash and pooper scooper laws.
What other places should you sniff out while you're here? Good question!
We love Fort Macon State Park for a historic adventure complete with beach access, views of the Fort and plenty of people-watching. Here's what you need to know about Fort Macon State Park's Pet Regulations. Did you know that Fort Macon was named NC State Park of the Year? It was. You can read even more about Fort Macon here.
We also love the North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores; but unless you're a service dog, you can't actually enter into the aquarium. However, it is still worth the trip for you! The Theodore Roosevelt Nature Area and Trail provides an awesome opportunity to explore the outdoor grounds of the aquarium with your family and see the sights. As long as you remain leashed, you're free to walk the trails with them. It is highly recommended!
