3 Ways to Fit A Vacation Into Your Busy Schedule
Posted On Tuesday, August 25, 2015
With school starting back up, businesses starting their fall and winter campaigns, and everyone getting ready to wrap up their summer fun, vacation time can sadly begin to ease out of our thoughts. However, it doesn’t need to be this way. In fact, it shouldn’t! Vacation time is very important no matter what time of year it is, in fact it’s even more important to have a vacation during those off seasons!
This sounds great of course, but how do you do it? In the midst of crazy schedules and making sure that you don’t get behind in your work, how do you take that time for a vacation? Well, here are the 3 most important steps that you can take to make sure that you get in that vacation time even the during off-season.
1.Make It a Priority
In order for you to take that first step towards fitting in your vacation time, even during the busy work and school season, is for you to be in the right mindset. Making vacation time a priority will help you to complete the rest of the steps. Vacations really should be a priority in your life in order for you to
reduce stress, have time to decompress, focus on yourself and your personal relationships, and so that you can better prepare to be more productive when you return. People that take the time to focus on the important balance of work, play, and relaxation end up better off in all areas of their lives. Making vacation a top priority will allow you to mentally set the stage so that you can actually get that time in! Just visualize yourself on that beautiful beach, walking in the sand, soaking up some rays, and enjoying every second. If that doesn't get your mind set on a beach vacation, I don't know what will!
2.Plan Your Vacation
A survey done by Expedia.com showed that one of the top reasons that Americans skipped vacations was due to the fact that they were not able to schedule in the time with enough advance. Though I am definitely one for spur of the moment adventures, in the midst of school, work, and other commitments when the summer ends, I know that it is really important to schedule out specific times for you to be on your vacation.
A bonus that comes from planning your vacation during off-season however, is that you often have the advantage of better travel prices on flights, vehicle rentals, and more! You can also take full advantage of the great deals Sun Surf Realty provides all year round for your stay while on vacation!
Also be aware that many times vacations during the school year and while work is in full swing are generally shorter trips, but don’t let that dissuade you from taking full advantage of your time! These sorts of mini vacations can be just the ticket to being rejuvenated and ready to get back to work when you return. 3.Prepare Your Workplace
Preparing the people that you work with before you leave is an important step in making sure that your vacation runs smoothly. Notifying your company or coworkers in advance is important in making sure that all your ducks are in a row before you head out on your vacation. It can also allow them time to think of any questions that may come up in your absence so that they can find solutions before you leave.
Speaking from experience, I know how frustrating it can be to be enjoying your vacation when a text or email comes through asking your opinion or trying to find answers to a question that could have been solved before you hopped on your flight and took off.
If you do have to work while on vacation, it is important to perhaps set aside specific times for your computer work and then spend the rest of the time unplugged and fully engaged in your vacation time. This opportunity to be completely away from the workplace can be a little strange at first, but is in the long run a great way to get in the full amount of relaxation you need. By letting your coworkers know when good times to reach you during your vacation will be, you will eliminate frustration on both sides.
Vacation time is important time. Especially during the bustle of the working, schooling, and crazy scheduling season, vacations can be the source of relaxation, rejuvenation, and motivation to continue to do accomplish your best work. Take full advantage of holidays and vacations when you are able and make sure that you enjoy them to the fullest.
