14th Annual Buddy Pelletier Memorial Longboard Classic on the Crystal Coast This Weekend

Buddy Pelletier Longboard Classic Surfing ContestCalling all surfers: Bring your longboard and head to Atlantic Beach this weekend. It's that time of year again! The 14th Annual Buddy Pelletier Memorial Longboard Classic surf contest happens this weekend on Saturday, July 26 and Sunday, July 27 at the Oceanana Pier. Surfing begins at 7a.m. each day. The Buddy Pelletier Surfing Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by East Coast Surfing Hall of Fame member Buddy Pelletier, to whom this annual longboard surf classic honors.

For this contest, longboards are defined as 9 feet or larger. Entrants ages 12 and under can use a board that is three feet plus their height. The entry fee is $25 for all age levels; $100 for the Open Pro division. The Open Pro purse is $4,000 with prizes awarded for 1st through 4th places. T-shirts are included with the entry fee. In conjunction with the Memorial Longboard Classic, Friday night (July 25) is ABLiveSurf.com's Surf Night at Chef's 105 in Morehead City. The back room is the place to be with a live performance by Wilmington's Reggae-Rock band Selah Dubb. The night includes giveaways and more. Saturday night (July 26) is beach party night with Selah Dubb at the back of the Oceanana Pierhouse from 8-10p.m.
