We hope you've made plEmerald Isleans to spend your Memorial Day Weekend with us here on our Emerald Isle beaches and in our surrounding Crystal Coast towns. Now that you have your beach house secured, how do you plan to spend your time? We'd love to offer you some suggestions.

Enjoy some Crystal Coast beach time. This one is a given. You could probably do this each and every day that you're here and never tire of it. Clear coastal waters, the relaxing ebb and flow of the tide, the crashing of surf against sand, the warmth of the sun on your skin and the feeling of sand between your toesneed we say more? These are the things that keep vacationers coming back year after year.

Explore the Carteret County Arts & Crafts Coalition Spring Show. The Carteret County Arts and Crafts Coalition Spring Show is held only four times a year here on the coast, and Memorial Day weekend is one of them. On Saturday, May 25 from 10a.m. to 5p.m. and Sunday, May 26 from noon to 5p.m., come to beautiful Beaufort-by-the-Sea to explore the handiwork of over 40 coastal artists and craftsmen. This free event offers you the opportunity to just peruse the works or purchase your favorites. Most of the artists are on-hand to answer any and all of your questions. The event is held outside on the grounds of the Beaufort Historic Site.

View Memorial Day Fireworks on the beach. It doesn't seem like a true summer holiday without a fantastic fireworks display! The town of Atlantic Beach is right down the road from Emerald Isle and offers a spectacular show on Saturday evening, May 25 beginning at 9p.m. at The Circle (main public beach access). Or, you can step out of your Emerald Isle oceanfront beach house and see the fireworks from a distance.

Contemplate the true meaning of Memorial Day by attending the Memorial Day Ceremony. On Saturday, May 25 the musical prelude begins at 9:30a.m. on the Carteret County Courthouse lawn in Beaufort. The ceremony begins at 10a.m. with Congressman Walter B. Jones as guest speaker. The Carteret County Veterans Council welcomes you and hopes to see you at the ceremony in remembrance of those that have served and given their lives for our country.

Listen to live music by the sea. The Crystal Coast town of Swansboro is just a hop, skip and jump over the bridge from Emerald Isle. On Sunday, May 26 from 6:30-8p.m., Drew Questell performs live Blues music as part of SwanFest. Bring a lawn chair or blanket, breathe in the coastal air, and relax while ySwansboroou listen to some great tunes. SwanFest is a free summer concert series held seasonally on Sundays at The Pavilion at Olde Town Square in downtown Swansboro. Alcoholic beverages and pets are not permitted.
