If you happen to be in town this week, the Beaufort Historic Site has a couple of special events occurring that you won't want to miss. Here's what's happening.

This Saturday, November 23, the annual Jumble Sale fills the grounds of the Beaufort Historic Site from 9a.m. to 3p.m. Get a jump on your holiday shopping as you peruse the wares of this community market that features everything from fine arts, jewelery, crafts, antiques and collectibles to holiday items, candles, books, homemade food and more. It's the place to find unique items as well as some really great bargains.

The Mattie Davis King Art Gallery hosts its YART sale (more commonly known as an art yard sale) during this event. The gallery features the works of over 100 local and regional artists and will be offering reduced price fine arts and crafts, art supplies, books and more available on the gallery’s front porch during the Jumble Sale.

Make a weekend of it and come out this Sunday, November 24, to the Beaufort Historic Site's annual Community Thanksgiving Feast from 11:30a.m. to 1p.m. This unique old-fashioned gathering welcomes friends, neighbors and visitors to a community celebration like no other. Enjoy a feast fit for a king (or queen) prepared by some of Beaufort's finest restaurants.

Beaufort Community Thanksgiving FeastGuests enjoy a traditional turkey dinner with all of the trimmings. Dinner is served from the Josiah Bell House and includes a lavish menu of roast turkey with gravy and dressing, ham, seafood bisque, chili, succotash, collards, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, sweet potatoes, scalloped potatoes, corn bread, cranberry sauce, assorted pies, ice cream, iced tea and coffee. The meal can be enjoyed on the grounds of the Historic Site under a tent or can be packed to take with you. The event is held rain or shine.

Tickets for the Community Thanksgiving Feast are $18 in advance, $20 the day of the event. Tickets are limited to the first 300 people, so don't delay. This event may sell out, so it's best to purchase the advance tickets as soon as possible.

These are just a couple of the events going on. The Historic Site also offers double decker bus tours, walking tours, living history and more. The Beaufort Historic Site is located on the 100 block of Turner Street. Beaufort is approximately a 30-minute drive from Emerald Isle.

We hope to see you on our beaches and in our towns this week and leading up to the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. The Crystal Coast is a great place to be any time of the year, but why not make your holidays extra special by celebrating here with us? We hope you consider it. We'd love to see you!
