Country Music Singer Lorrie Morgan in Concert August 15 on North Carolina's Crystal Coast

The Carteret TDowntown Morehead Cityheater at The Morehead Center for Performing Arts & Events hosts country music singer Lorrie Morgan this Friday, August 15 at 8p.m. The Carteret Theater is located in downtown Morehead City on 1311 Arendell Street and is a short coastal drive from your Emerald Isle beach vacation rental.

Born Loretta Lynn Morgan, Lorrie made her debut alongside her dad, George Morgan, at the Grand Ole Opry with an unforgettable performance of "Paper Roses". Since then, she has sold over six million records in addition to having fourteen top-ten hits, twelve recorded albums, and receiving four Female Vocalist of the Year awards.

Lorrie Morgan has written and recorded more than 15 of her own songs over her musical career and credits her life's experiences as her inspiration.

"I have been a daughter, a bride, a mother, a divorcee, a widow, a single mother, a grandmother, a breadwinner, and ultimately, a survivor. It seems, in many ways, that I am a living, breathing country song and I know what I sing. My music and songwriting has a healing power for me personally, and in these days, that’s what I aspire to be, a compelling and captivating music poet!”

Morgan’s vocal style combines country sincerity and pop sophistication. Her career was launched in 1989 with the emotion-filled hit "Dear Me.” She won a CMA Award in 1990 for her work with her late husband, Keith Whitley, the great country traditionalist who had died the year before. Her three subsequent albums — Leave the Light On, Something in Red, and Watch Me — all sold more than a million copies. Other hits continued to follow suit including "I Guess You Had to Be There,” "What Part of No,” "Except for Monday,” "Something in Red,” "I Didn't Know My Own Strength,” "Half Enough,” and others.

Lorrie has performed duets with Frank Sinatra, Johnny Mathis, Andy Williams, and The Beach Boys, just to name a few. She has also performed on Broadway and abroad. You can read more about her life and music career here.
