Christmas Past, Present, and Future

Christmastime is the perfect time to reflect back on the traditions of the past, enjoy the moments of Christmas cheer as they come, and to look forward to more Christmases with family to come. As the iconic Ebenezer Scrooge himself once remarked: "I will live in the Past, the Present, and the Future!”

Just like Scrooge himself, we here at the beach know the importance of learning from the past, enjoying the present, and looking forward to the future. That’s why, while you are enjoying your Christmas in Emerald Isle, we have compiled some tips to help you to appreciate the past, present, and future Christmases here on the coast.

Christmas Past

History is such a huge part of the culture here on the Crystal Coast. From Fort Macon to the Maritime Museum, history is everywhere around us. Around Christmas, it’s especially fun to think back on what Christmases must have been like for those who have come before.

A fun, memorable way to be able to really visualize that history is by attending some of the historical tours, such as the Historic Beaufort Candlelight Homes tour. See all of the historic homes in downtown Beaufort all lit up for the holidays with your family this Christmas!

You should also take a daytime adventure over to Fort Macon to see Civil War history and live demonstrations! The Maritime Museum, Pine Knoll Shores Aquarium, and any of our amazing local antique stores are perfect places to learn a little more about the Crystal Coast this Christmas!

Christmas Present

There’s a reason the current time is called the present: because it’s such a gift! One of the best parts of being at the beach is the opportunity you have to take a step back, relax, and really enjoy living in the moment. The perfect gift for you and your family this Christmas is certainly to take the time to spend some time at the beach!

There are a million things that you can do while visiting this Christmas in Emerald Isle. Take a walk with your family to collect seashells on the beach, or wait until evening and just look at all of the beautiful lights on display at every turn! Enjoy an evening watching the live radio play of "It’s a Wonderful Life” at the Carteret Community Theater, or visit one of the many local art galleries. I can’t even begin to list all of the things you can do while here in Emerald Isle, but check out our weekly updated blog for some more great ideas on how to enjoy the present at the beach this Christmas.

If you are worried about finding the time for a vacation, never fear! We have already compiled some great tips for those with busy schedules to make time for their vacations.
